Asian Greens with Garlic Sauce


  • 1 1/2 lb. choy sum (Asian greens)
  • 1 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce



  1. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Meanwhile, trim ends from choy sum (a.k.a. Asian greens)
  2. Blanch greens in the water until just tender, about 1 minute
  3. Drain greens and set aside on a plate
  4. Heat oil in a wok or a skillet over medium-high heat
  5. Add garlic and cook until lightly browned, 1–2 minutes
  6. Add soy sauce and 1 tablespoon water; cook for 1 minute
  7. Pour garlic sauce over greens
